Discovery, a New Way of Searching (THINKING): the Challenges, Trials and Tribulations

Google and like search engines have changed the way library users search and retrieve information. The typical library user has come to expect discovery or other search tools to provide one–stop (one-box) searching with seamless and immediate results. While our students and faculty are traveling on this *new* discovery highway, not all of our library faculty and staff have made it to the on-ramp for this *new* approach of searching (THINKING). This presentation will provide a discussion of our ongoing journey to this *new* method of searching (THINKING) and of the steps we have taken to meet the information needs of our library users. By sharing with the audience the challenges or road blocks we have encountered, we hope to spark a discussion and learn how other libraries are moving forward in this *new* discovery environment.
